India is the first country in Asia to produce coffee. The Berrytalers, passionate about excellent coffee, set out to meet the producers, following in the footsteps of Sufi Baba Budan, who brought 7 coffee seeds that he had hidden in his beard, from the port of Mocha in Yemen . After planting these coffee seeds, it brought coffee to the Indians. Coffee consumption grew throughout India and the name of this historic mountain was given: Baba Budan Giri. This territory is now a major coffee-producing region. It was a unique adventure to retrace the footsteps of this coffee pioneer and share this story with you through our selection of coffee from the Angadi and Muthodi terroirs. The producers have the particularity, in addition to being passionate about coffee, to be passionate about their culture and their history. The territory is vast and very diverse, we find historic temples with the famous Indian Gods: Brahma, Shiva, Vishnu, Saraswati, Ganesh etc...

“La Brûlerie du Cantin selects for you a country, a region, a plantation and above all farmers who wish to improve the quality of their coffee, which allows them to be freer in their actions. »

India is one of the world's largest countries in terms of both size and coffee production. The majority of plantations are located in the state of Karnataka. Our coffee selection comes from the Angadi and Muthodi terroirs in the birthplace of coffee in India, Baba Budan.

The producers are also coffee exporters. They work in partnership with other producers in the area to help them improve quality, set up new processes and export. India is not recognised as a producer of speciality coffee, yet after a great deal of research and meetings with local roasters, we have managed to find coffee plantations that stand out for their working methods, their welcome, their ethics and their values of respect and solidarity. The coffee plantations we work with are located in jungles with a rich flora and fauna.

Producers are aware of the evolution of the market and wish to accommodate seasonal workers as best as possible by offering them numerous services such as a nursery, a school, a church, a temple and sometimes even a hospital. All coffee farmers spend the majority of their time on the plantations to ensure the good health of the jungles where their coffee grows. The Berrytalers act as an extension of the plantations visited. We always provide feedback on your opinions and advice regarding the tasting of these coffees to the producers. In the same way as the actions we carry out with producers, we strive to find effective methods to raise the interest of these coffees within your stores.
